This hike can be extended to include the short Kranshoek hike if you want to experience indigenous forest as well. It will then be 11km long, but well worth it if you have the energy.

The scenery on this hike will captivate you. This entire area is undergoing geological changes albeit at an unnoticeable pace as the scree makes its way down the slopes, which explains the pebble beach as these rocks move down to the coast line at what seems to be an interminably slow rate.

This walk takes us along this rugged coastline zigzagging our way through montane coastal forest and back down to the rocky coastline.

One of the many rocky beaches on the long coastal hike

We will see dassies (hyrax) that live in and around the rocky outcrops, very secretive but also curious little mammals. Cormorants, gulls and the rare oystercatchers may be seen as well. During season there is always a chance of spotting whales and dolphins, a rare treat.

We will find a place to rest and enjoy our lunch and then continue along the coastline until we reach Crooks pool, here we make a sharp ascent up to the plateau where we will walk along the cliff edge through a fynbos path and see the coastline from a different perspective.

We walk along this path until we eventually reach the starting point where our walk comes to an end, as this is a circular route.

Transport, conservation fees, lunch and refreshments are provided.
